Harvesting Pineapples

When planting pineapples, sometimes I wonder when the plant would bear fruits. It seems to always take a long time. Then when it finally do bear one, I wonder when the fruit would mature and ready for harvesting. The other time the fruit had a tinge of yellow in it, signalling that it was beginning to ripen. This time round, the fruit is all green but it is bigger and looks like the ones in supermarket shelves. I bent it a little and it snapped! Now, it lays on the kitchen table.
