So there are steps to follow when planting lotus from seeds. One does not just drop the seeds into any water. The water must be warm and clean. The water needs to be changed if cloudy to prevent bacteria growth. Then, the water should preferably be contained in a clear container and placed somewhere sunny. Expect the seeds to germinate in about a week, maybe faster if the seeds are filed at the round end to allow the water to penetrate into the seeds.
