The Hydrangea in the Garden

When the hydrangea in the garden bloomed for the first time, I had initially thought it was white. Spied on it everday and discovered that it appeared pink and purplish one day and some parts were blue the next. Most hydrangea species, I read have white flowers; otherwise they could be blue, red, pink, light purple, or dark purple depending on the acidity of the soil. In acidic soil where aluminum ions are available to the plants, the flowers are blue to purple while in alkaline soil, the flowers are pink or red. The hydrangea in the garden, having a mixture of blue pink and purplish flowers makes one wonder about the soil acidity. Do you think it is acidic or alkaline.
