Animal Take : Vampire Fish

A fish that lives by boring into the flesh of other fish to suck their blood? No wonder, the lamprey is called the vampire fish. Lampreys live mostly in coastal and fresh waters in most of the temperate regions in the Northern Hemisphere but it is the sea lamprey which earn the nickname. Freshwater lampreys are not carnivorous. The adults in fact do not feed but live on reserves acquired when in larvae form. Fascinating fish!
