A Chat with a Birdwatcher

On a Friday morning, a friend and I had intended to visit Taiping's Maxwell Base Camp but had stopped midway instead to chat with some bird watchers. One of the birdwatchers turned out to be both our old acquaintance and from him, we learned that -

  • A birdwatcher's camera can cost as much as 30k.
  • The birdwatchers may start their stalking early in the morning and may only get to see a bird very late in the afternoon or none at all.
  • The birdwatchers use worms to entice the birds into making their appearance.
  • The birds can name the birds.
  • They can identify them by the sound they made.
  • They may travel outstation to see endemic birds.
  • It is better to go bird watching instead of cooping up in the house the whole day lest one starts to quarrel with the wife. LOL!
Would you like to join them?

Do you think a birdwatcher would be interested in these birds?
