Saw a Malay boy fishing in the Lake Gardens the other day. He had caught a fish and when asked what fish it was he had left lying on the ground, he said it was Tilapia. It was the first time I saw a Tilapia this close. Quite a beautiful fish I would say; this freshwater fish which has been introduced to Malaysia by the Japanese in the 1940s. Tilapia is native to Africa and has been introduced to many other countries not just because it is a cheap protein source. The fish is able to adapt to a wide variety of conditions.
