Have heard that mushrooms will grow after the rain but this is the first time that I have actually witnessed it. Little round white golf ball-like mushrooms sprang up on the lawn and my grand nephew gave one a kick, crushing it. In damp conditions, mushrooms can sprout out of the ground from the mycelium, the root-like structure of a fungus; but I suspect the rain must have brought the spores of the mushroom from elsewhere. Wonder if the mushrooms are edible...
