The succulent aloe vera has been part of the garden scene for many years now. The leaves are thick and the gel-like flesh has been used to prepare some desserts, I remember; but this is the first time that it flowers. Have seen flowers of aloe vera in someone's else garden many years back. Remember the pendulous flowers growing on a spike have yellow tubular corolla. The ones in the garden are orange and smaller too. Not enough nutrients perhaps.
