The first cannas I remember were probably those by the roadside near my primary school. There was a big bush of them; they were flourishing, their foliage large and the flowers big and red. Later, elsewhere I came across yellow cannas and cannas of other colours and they were always standing tall, over a metre tall. It was many years later that I came across dwarfed cannas. The owner gave me a sapling and I had it grown in a pot.
