At the Lake Gardens

Many years ago, when I took a friend from outstation to visit the local Taiping Lake Gardens; the latter was mesmerised by some of the monkeys there and had wanted to pose for a picture with them in the background. I took the camera and he went nearer to the monkeys; causing one of the bigger ones to bare its fangs. Almost immediately, the monkey chased us and we ran and had a narrow escape. Later, I learned that the male macaque with buff-brown hair and the tail of a pig which the locals called berok could be exceptionally fierce. Yet, this is the monkey that could be trained to pluck coconuts.

Just watch how the monkey is trained!
