A sunset is said to be formed when light from the sun passes through a less dense to a denser atmosphere. The light with shorter wavelengths such as violet and blue will be scattered by particles in the air and the light with longer wavelengths such as yellow and red light will reach our eyes and we usually will see a yellowish red sunset. In Kuala Lumpur, I came across a yellow sunset.
