Fruits have always play a big part during Chinese New Year. Oranges which represent abundance and happiness; and pomelos which represent good luck and family unity as well as grapes, jujube, kumquats which represent good luck and prosperity are common sights at home especially during this festive season. The kumquat plant this year isn't as attractive as the one last year. A lady who owns a nursery and sells plants in the nearby market, supplies the plant each year. This year, she brought a plant over even though no order had been made. A relative couldn't get a plant at the last minute as the woman said it was out of stock. Think we have to be thankful then!
