Locally, the herb in the garden is known as ketumbar jawa but it's not from Java or any other parts of Indonesia. Eryngium foetidum, a tropical perennial herb in the family Apiaceae is a native to Mexico, the Caribbean, Central and South America; so I suppose it's appropriate then that it's also called Mexican coriander. Now cultivated worldwide, it's used in many countries including Myanmar and other parts of Asia as a culinary herb. You may not like its strong taste though which may reminds one of some kind of bugs!
