One of the best time to visit China's Dong Chuan is said to be around May to June. That's right after the farmers plough their fields and before the crops grow; and visitors would be rewarded with a picturesque view of red fields. In Dong Chuan, the soil is red but crops would cover it and lend it a different hue. After lunch in our hotel, my friends and I had been taken to tour the place in the vicinity. It was towards the end of the year, somewhere in October and November and instead of red, we saw mostly white. Cole crops are from the mustard family and include cabbages, broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, choy sum, rutabaga, turnip and mustard plants and I presume their flowers are usually yellow.
