Movie Talk: Terminator: Dark Fate

My nephew claimed I took him to the now demolished Lido theatre in Taiping to watch the first installment of The Terminator in 1984. I thought we had watched a VCD version; but this, I'm certain, he took me to the cinema at Taiping Aeon for the latest instalment, Terminator: Dark Fate. Linda Hamilton and Arnold Schwazenegger reprise their 1984 roles of Sarah Connor and the T-800 Terminator. Since it is after over 20 years since the first movie, one would expect to see an old and wrinkled hero and heroine which surprisingly isn't the case; at the beginning of the movie at least; when one would be awed by a very young Arnold attacking John and an equally young Linda, trying to protect her son. Fast forward, 22 years later and there is an altered future and new characters; a cybernetically-enhanced young woman named Grace being sent from 2042 to protect Dani, a woman whom Sarah suspects to be the mother of the future Resistance leader from the more advanced Terminator model, the Rev-9. Expect a lot of actions; car and aeroplane chases, arm to arm combat; and while one would be very excited by all these, momentarily one may wonder where the hell Arnold Schwazenegger is. The movie seems to focus on the three women on the run. Mackenzie Davis who plays Grace is a refreshing character and reminds me of the late Diana, Princess of Wales. I like it when Linda Hamilton's character, Sarah Connor asks her. When do you come from?
