The Apple Rose Tree

The Rose Apple tree in my working place is bearing flowers! Rose Apple or jambu air as the Malays call it, is native to Malesia, New Guinea and Queensland and in Malaysia, it is a cultivated. Rose Apple's flowers are in clusters but  being small and a pale yellow, white eve; they are rather inconspicuous even with their long, numerous stamens, especially at the moment when there aren't many flowers. I remember the times when the tree bloomed profusely. Then, when the fruits ripened, the tree would be ladened with plenty of red fruits and presented a lovely sight even when the night wind had caused the fruits to fall, turning the ground into a red carpet. The fruits have a crisp watery texture and slightly sweet. I am truly surprised to hear that the leaves are edible and are sometimes used to wrap food.
