The Shrub by the Shrine

As a child, I was fascinated by the flower shrub that grew by the shrine in the backyard of my neighbour's house. The flowers are as big as pomeloes and seemed to be in perpetual bloom. their flowers sometimes pink, sometimes white. The hibiscus mutablis are said to be pure white or light pink in the morning and turns hot pink or even red towards evening. The flowers reportedly are white in the refrigerator and will turn pink when taken out to a warmer environment, following which it must have meant that the temperature in the morning is lower than in the evening if the flowers indeed are to change colour from white to pink or red. The flowers that grew by the shrine in my neighbour's backyard, as far as I remember, are however always white and pink.
