I've always thought that spring, a season of regrowth and rejuvenation is the only season when flowers bloom. So was I surprised indeed when I was confronted by so many types of beautiful flowers when visiting Ireland in summer. It was early summer of course and flowers which bloom in spring are known to continue blooming until then. Most of the flowers were foreign to me and one white one, I suppose, must be Trillium grandiflorum, said to be a perennial that grows from a short rhizome and produces a single, white flower. When spoilt for choice, white-tailed deer in the woods reportedly will seek out trilliums especially Trillium grandiflorum for food. Some animals can really be so picky!
There must be a Trillium grandiflorum here ...
