It is already a fact that Superman, the fictional character created by Jerry Siegel and Canadian-born artist Joe Shuster in 1932 has become an American cultural icon since being sold to Detective Comics, Inc in 1938. The character which first appeared in Action Comics#1 has seen appeared in radio serials, television programs, films, newspaper strips and video games and inspired the creation of many other American superheroes, most notably, Batman.
