One day, the new Indonesian maid pointed to a little plant in the garden. Labu! She exclaimed excitely. Labu could be labu kuning (pumpkin) or labu air (bottle gourd); and I guessed it could be the former since there were always pumpkin dishes in the menu. A few weeks had since passed and the labu had flowered many times over but a fruit is yet to be in sight. Sigh!
