My first contact with the beautiful lillium must be during biology lesson in high school and that was with its anther preserved on a slide. In recent years, I have the privilege to see and smell the real lillium. Each time my niece visits Cameron Highlands, the hill resorts in Pahang, someone there would present her with the flowers, so many that there would be flowers everywhere in the house; in the living room, on the altar, in the kitchen and even some outside, in the porch. The flowers are usually freshly picked and the buds are yet to open. Then of course, all will have the privilege to see and smell the flowers as they bloom in time, like little girls transforming into a beautiful maidens and their strong, sweet scent permeates the air...
