News! : Hot on Tigers

Even before the year of the Tiger arrived, the tigers were already hot in the local news .The director of Forestry Department in a Malaysian state claims that logging is actually good for the tigers as the clearing of forests leads to growth of new plants and saplings, which In turn attracts little animals like deer. That; the director said will make it easier for tigers to catch preys. That logging is good for tigers is said to be backed by the finding of wildlife experts who based on the number of sightings of tigers in selectively logged areas, concluded that the population density of tigers was 30% higher than the highest estimate stated in an earlier study conducted at a protected forest. Never mind if you take this with a grain of salt; thinking perhaps that more tigers ought to be sighted in logged areas where the natural habitats have been destroyed, giving an impression that there are are more tigers there. Birds Day Out

While at the Lake Gardens , I was both pleased and surprised to see so many birds frolicking on the bank of the lake near the Raintree Walk. Normally, the birds would be seen far away on the other side of the lake, far away from humans. The birds seemed to be not afraid of human beings and probably, it was their day out! Just watch this! 30.4.24

First Bloom

The banana tree used to be in a pot . Then, it was transferred to the garden by the drain . It probably has been there for over a year. Now, it is producing its first bloom. Was surprised to find that it was green. 22.7.24
