Creeping Beauty

Children love to play with it. The
Mimosa pudica has compound leaves which close during darkness and reopen when there is light. Even then, one  just has to touch the leaves to make them close on their own. No wonder the Mimosa pudica is called shameplant or touch-me-not. The creeping flowering plant of the pea family is quite common in Malaysia. Found one blooming and creeping into a tarred road. Was surprised to read that the plant is native to the Caribbean and South and Central America.
