Plant Talk: Not Just Sad Movies

It's not just sad movies that make you cry. Onions, too - when you cut them. Onion bulb purportedly contains sulfur. When the bulb is cut, sulfur gas is released. The gas seeks water and this, it finds in the eye tissues. To avoid tears then, it has been suggested that the unpeeled onion should be kept in the freezer for 10 minutes. One is even advised to breathe through the mouth, burn a candle, hold a silver spoon in the mouth and even chew gum while the cutting process is being done. Just have your pick!

Now, wipe your tears and listen to Sue Thompson's Sad Movies Make me Cry...
