Shut Up!



It is said that before the twentieth century, the phrase 'shut up' means to lock up, quarantine or hold someone prisoner. Today, it is a direct command, an angry, forceful and most definitely an impolite way to ask someone to be quiet. Do you think there is a better way to say, 'Shut up'?
