News! : Hot on Tigers

Even before the year of the Tiger arrived, the tigers were already hot in the local news .The director of Forestry Department in a Malaysian state claims that logging is actually good for the tigers as the clearing of forests leads to growth of new plants and saplings, which In turn attracts little animals like deer. That; the director said will make it easier for tigers to catch preys. That logging is good for tigers is said to be backed by the finding of wildlife experts who based on the number of sightings of tigers in selectively logged areas, concluded that the population density of tigers was 30% higher than the highest estimate stated in an earlier study conducted at a protected forest. Never mind if you take this with a grain of salt; thinking perhaps that more tigers ought to be sighted in logged areas where the natural habitats have been destroyed, giving an impression that there are are more tigers there. Oh! I can't stand the smell!

Oh! I can't stand the smell! If only I can wipe it off! You can't blame me really. After all, dogs have nearly 220 million smell-sensitive cells over an area about the size of a pocket handkerchief, unlike you, homo sapiens who just have 5 million of the same cells over an area the size of a postage stamp. We really have sensitive noses!

I Love My Mouse

Yes, I love my mouse. Now, I am not talking about Mus musculus , that small common house belonging to one of the numerous species of rodents . I am talking about that pointing device that helps me with my blogging activities. Oh, it really deserves a big hug from me!
